Cleto Reyes is one of the most prestigious brands in the history of world boxing.
It was founded in Mexico City by Cleto Reyes Castro (1920–1999), a craftsman who began his trade at age twelve working leather in a baseball mitt workshop.
His passion for boxing led him to handcraft his first gloves, and in 1945 they were used for the first time in a world title fight: the bout between Juan Zurita and Ike Williams at the Toreo de la Condesa.
In 1954, Cleto Reyes and his wife set up their own home workshop, and from the 1960s onward their gloves expanded into markets like the United States and Japan.
Since then, Cleto Reyes gloves have become the choice of great world champions: Muhammad Ali demanded them for his rematch against Leon Spinks in 1978, refusing to step into the ring without them. Julio César Chávez, Manny Pacquiao, Oscar de la Hoya, Mike Tyson, Sugar Ray Leonard, Anthony Joshua, and Juan Manuel Márquez are just a few of the fighters who have worn them in historic bouts. Even Sylvester Stallone chose them for the Rocky Balboa film saga.
All Cleto Reyes products are handcrafted in Mexico, using genuine cowhide leather and subject to strict quality controls.
Each glove carries an engraved serial code that certifies its authenticity.
This handmade manufacturing process, maintained for over eight decades, is what sets Cleto Reyes apart from any other boxing brand: exceptional ergonomic fit, padding that protects the boxer's joints, and durability proven in the most demanding rings in the world.
